Young Mansfield Town first teamers Tyrese Sinclair and Jason Law provided an insight into what it takes to break into the first team, as they inspired participants attending our Easter Camp last week.
The duo linked up with participants via Zoom on World Health Day, to give participants an insight into how they develop strength, manage their diet, and take on the mental challenge of breaking onto the first team scene.
Participants were also able to ask more general questions, providing a pivotal link between the first team set up and supporters, following an unprecedented season where spectators have been unable to attend games.
Jordan Ferrer, Assistant Community Manager, said “Having the players join us via Zoom was really great for the kids – in previous seasons they were able to attend games, watch them in action and develop a knowledge of the team, but with fans having to watch through iFollow due to the pandemic – it’s hard for the youngsters to form those bonds and as a result, have someone to idolise.
“Both Tyrese and Jason started out on similar paths to the children, attending holiday clubs, development teams etc so they were able to relate to their experiences to what the participants are currently experiencing.
“It was good for the children to get the opportunity to ask questions as well and as staff, we were surprised in a positive way at some of the questions asked – with children wanting to know things like what inspires the players and how to overcome setbacks.”
Supporters who subscribe to the clubs iFollow platform, can watch both interviews in full.
