Youngsters enjoy story time with Football in the Community coaches

Students from Kirkby-In-Ashfield’s Greenwood Primary and Nursery this morning enjoyed story time with Football in the Community coaches, as part of their World Book Day celebrations.

Youngsters from four classes were dressed as their favourite literacy characters and had the chance to tell classmates and coaches why they’d chosen that character, before listening to extracts from books chosen by our coaches from their childhood.

Jordan Ferrer, Assistant Community Manager, said “The kids really went to town on their costume choices, we had everything from Gangster Granny and Lego, to your classics like Matilda and Wally – you could really see how engaged they were in reading with many tackling books perhaps aimed at a higher age

“We put real emphasis on our interventions within school, especially where literacy is concerned and were more than happy to go back to our childhood to read and share our favourites.”
