Two more local Schools are one step closer to playing at Wembley Stadium, after making it through to Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s club final, of this seasons EFL Utilita Kids Cup.
The tournament, open to ages 11 and under, kicked off last month with Berry Hill and Croft Primary School securing their place in the Club Final to be held at the RH Academy this week – they’ll be joined by pupils from Abbey Primary and Holly Primary School, after the two saw off the competition at our second qualifying event last week.
Six Primary Schools attended to battle it out for a place in the final, playing each other once in a league format – with the top two schools making it through.
Community Manager Gary Shaw oversaw the competition and said “All six sets of pupils were a credit to their respective schools with a real determined attitude, playing some very competitive football during the course of the afternoon.
“It’s pretty much every youngster’s dream to play at Wembley and this competition gives them a real opportunity to do that, I can’t wait to see how our club final plays out next week to decide who represents us and the club at the regional finals in early 2020 – well done to all involved.”
