Teachers UK Trophy crowns new Champion

The annual Teachers UK Trophy has a brand new champion, after Forest Town’s Holly Primary School saw off their competitors to claim the silverware at the RH Academy last week.

Competing against three other schools following two qualifying tournaments, Holly Primary take the crown from King Edward Primary, who bowed out at the qualifying stage, finishing two points clear of their rivals following an extremely competitive afternoon’s football.

Following a tense afternoon’s football which saw each time play each other twice, the outcome went down to the afternoons final match with Holly beating Forest View 2-0, meaning second-placed Croft, needed to beat Abbey Primary by two clear goals – however Abbey stood firm to claim at 0-0 draw, and subsequently see Holly named champions.

Gary Shaw, Community Manager and Premier League Primary Stars co-ordinator, said “Many congratulations to Holly Primary who over the two events [the qualifiers and the final] have shown real quality and played some nice football.

“That said, none of the three other finalists made it easy and it was very much a hotly contested tournament, which again shows the standard of pupils from across our area who are participating in our Premier League Primary Stars program”
