Sienna scores a Mascot Day thanks to Teachers UK!

“It’s a very special prize for a very special young lady.” says Teachers UK

Ten-year-old Sienna McGrath of Clipstone’s Samuel Barlow Primary Academy has a lot to look forward to in the Easter holidays after scoring a full Mascot Day courtesy of Mansfield Town Football in the Community & Teachers UK.

The Mascot Days are run by Mansfield Town Football in the Community and give children the opportunity to get a look behind the scenes, and to meet the players on match day.

Louise Hamby of Teachers UK says that Sienna was a worthy winner of their latest competition. “It was the last day before the Easter holidays and so the presentation we made was egg-stra special! It’s a very special prize for a very special young lady”. Louise says that Teachers UK, an education recruitment specialist based at Mansfield’s I-Centre, enjoys giving back to the schools it works with. “Samuel Barlow school takes real pride in its children and the staff work tirelessly to give them the best opportunities possible.  Teachers UK were proud to be part of the celebration.  Sienna has shown courage and determination and she is an excellent role model to all of us.”

There to make the presentation with Teachers UK was Sammy the Stag and Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s Gary Shaw, (Community Manager & PL Primary Stars Coordinator). Gary said, “Sienna will get to meet the players and receive a Mansfield Town football kit and a signed football. It’s definitely one of the most rewarding parts of my job and creates a great rapport with the young people, – the joy on their faces and their smiles makes it very worthwhile.”

Sienna is already a keen footballer and says she is a bit nervous about going on to the pitch. “I am really excited, my teachers told me they had nominated me and that made me really happy.” Sienna plays for the school’s girls football team. “I like to play I defense for my school team and recently we have won every game we have played! I also used to play for Stags girls, so I have been to the grounds before, but never on the pitch! I am really proud that Teachers UK chose me and on the day I am taking my Dad and my brother. I am very excited about it, but a bit nervous about going on to the pitch for the first time.”

Angela Hirst nominated Sienna for the Teachers UK competition and said, “Sienna is an excellent role model both in her academic and sporting curriculum. She is a resilient young lady who embodies the school’s values and is a brilliant defender in the school team which has put us in good stead this year, winning all of our league matches! We hope she has a wonderful experience.”
