Mansfield Town Football in the Community have been actively involved with World mental health day this past week with a wide range of activities.
On the 8th October, Football in the Community we’re involved with the fantastic campaign #doonething. ‘Do One Thing’ is a campaign led by the EFL in conjunction with Mind, a mental health charity founded in 1946. Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and campaigns on a range of issues that could affect anybody with a mental health problem which includes health services, legislation, protection of legal rights and employment.
The ‘Do One Thing’ campaign is essentially a random act of kindness to a fan of the football club. Examples of this would be surprising fans with tickets to an upcoming fixture or arranging a surprise meet/video call with a fan and player/manager. FITC decided to get a Stags football shirt signed by all the players and manager, and presented it to long-serving fan, and current Active Minds member, David Beastall. Better known as ‘Beanie’, he regularly attends Active Minds sessions on a Friday morning. His fantastic bubbly personality brings smiles to everyone he meets and he was the perfect candidate for this brilliant campaign. He was overjoyed with emotion as he was presented with the shirt, as it was his 65th birthday in a few days as well, making it a birthday to remember. This is certainly not his only Mansfield Town memorabilia and he was delighted to add it to his collection.
Mansfield Town Football in the Community take great pride in supporting Mental Health & Wellbeing, Dementia Care and social well-being – with our weekly FREE activity, Active Minds.
