Mansfield Town Football in the Community are pleased to announce the launch of a new Walking Football session, following phenomenal demand to our Saturday sessions.
The sessions will take place at the new RH Academy on the 3G pitch, Woburn Lane, Pleasley, and are designed for ages 45 and over to continue playing the beautiful game.
Led by a dedicated coach, Walking Football is a slow-paced version of the game aimed at the over 50s and is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle despite their age, as well as getting those back playing football who had to stop due to injuries.
As the name suggests, Walking Football is non-contact and anyone that sprints, runs or jogs whilst the ball is in play, will be penalised with a free-kick awarded to the other team.
Sessions at the RH Academy will run for an hour, 6-7pm every Wednesday, starting from December 5th. Participants are asked to arrive for 5.50pm and register prior to the session.
Alex Cartwright, Community Coach, said “Our walking football sessions have been really popular and have continued to grow week upon week.
“We’ve received a lot of interest for midweek sessions for people to work around work commitments and family, which is a fundamental reason behind starting the midweek sessions.
“The RH Academy is a really nice facility of the highest quality, it’s going to really help the participants to grow and develop their abilities – anyone is welcome to attend.”
