With activities currently cancelled due to the third national lockdown, Mansfield Town Football in the Community are challenging participants to stay safe and active, with our new fitness challenge – The Virtual 92.
The challenge is based on ‘The 92’ a commonly known football ground-hopping challenge, and challenges participants to complete the mileage you would usually travel, by walking, running or cycling around your local area.
Whilst common health & fitness activities have been able to take place, members of our Walking Football group, like many of us, have been staying active by going on daily walks around the local area – tracking their steps, heart rate & mileage through smart phone apps.
Following the first session of our ‘Virtual Connections’ session last week, participants have shown an interest in getting out and staying active but commented that often they struggled to find the motivation to head out and hit targets – Football in the Community hope the creation of this challenge will go some way to helping to combat that.
All you need to participate in this challenge and track your mileage is a smartphone app such as Strava, which can be set to monitor walking, running or cycling, from which you can tick off the amount of miles travelled and tick off your achievements around YOUR LOCAL AREA.
The challenge has been designed to show the distance to each Stadium of all 92 clubs [excluding Mansfield] as if you were travelling from the One Call Stadium and can be done either in mileage order (smallest to largest), stadium by stadium, or however you see fit.
Participants are encouraged to take photos and screenshots of their achievements and share them via email to email@example.com
