What is The John Radford Trophy ?
Each season, Mansfield Town Football in the Community organises a cup competition for junior footballers, from schools across the town and surrounding areas, with the final being played at half time of one of our Stags home fixtures.
The John Radford Trophy comprises of a six a side competition for Yr5 school children, however Yr4 children can be included if the school wishes. A year limit of Yr5 is insisted on as we try to encourage schools to enter Yr6 children in the Football League u’11 Kids Cup.
The road to One Call Stadium starts in March, when Mansfield Town Football in the Community organise local competitions for all local schools who wish to take part. The John Radford Trophy is for under Yr5 children, and the top 2 schools will win the right to play in the final for the prize of a lifetime – playing football at One Call Stadium, in what we hope will become a prestigious event on the school games calendar.
2016/17 Season Farnsfield St Michael’s narrowly defeated Peafield Lane Academy on penalties in the final of this years John Radford Trophy.
Previous winners include Abbey School in 2013/14 , Samuel Barlow in 2014/15, Peafield Lane in 2015/16.
