What is the Football League Girls Cup?
Each season The Football League organises a cup competition for junior footballers from schools across the country, with the finals being played in the build–up to some of the biggest matches of the domestic season.
The Girls Cup comprises of a six a side competition for u’13 girls and culminates in a grand final prior to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium in March.
The road to Wembley starts in October, when Mansfield Town Football in the Community organise local competitions for all local schools who wish to take part. The Girls Cup is for u’13 girls, with the winning school winning the right to represent us in the national stages of the tournament, where they could progress all the way to the final for the prize of a lifetime – playing football at Wembley Stadium.
Shirebrook Academy represented Mansfield Town FC in the 2015/16 season. After winning the local stage they progressed to the Area Finals which were held at Derby.
