WHAT IS THE KINDER +SPORT FUTSAL CUP?
The Kinder +Sport Futsal Cup continues to provide opportunities for young people to play futsal and this year those opportunities are reaching out even further.
For the first time, the Kinder +Sport Futsal Cup will comprise of two age group competitions; one for under 13’s (U13’s) and one for under 15’s (U15’s) with each age group encompassing both a boys tournament and a girls tournament.
This essentially means the EFL Trust are running four competitions concurrently in order to increase futsal participation opportunities across schools nationally.
A similar path to the EFL Kids Cup for each competition, with each winning team at the local stage progressing onto the Regional Finals. The regions will be split based on geographic location and will be confirmed in advance of the Regional Finals. The winners of each of the Regional Finals will progress onto the National Final.
Our local stage of the u13 Boys competition was held at Brunts Academy. The schools in attendance was Shirebrook Academy, Joseph Whitaker and Brunts Academy. With all 3 schools very closely matched this meant we was in for some close and at time nail biting games of Futsal.
Shirebrook Academy started strong with an emphatic 5-2 win over Brunts Academy. Joseph Whitaker then faced Brunts with the hosts coming out 1-0 winners.
Brunts then followed up with impressive performances in the return leg fixtures. Therefore winning our competition by just 1 point and progressing to the Regional Finals.
