Schools out for summer and Mansfield Town Football in the Community would like to say thank-you and well done to all schools and participating pupils, as the full time whistle blows on Premier League Primary Stars interventions within schools, for the 2018-19 academic year.
Since September, Football in the Community have visited a large number of the districts Primary Schools, working within curriculum time on PE, English and Mathematics interventions, as well as running a range of lunch-time and after school clubs.
Premier League Primary Stars Coordinator Gary Shaw said “It’s been a really busy year for Primary Stars and as a community scheme we’re really pleased with how both the schools and pupils have responded to our activity.
“We’re really starting to see youngsters fall in love with football and sport, actively attending sessions and wanting to come on holiday courses which is great as they’re continuing to develop in a number of ways.”
Football in the Community have also ran a number of Premier League Primary Stars competitions, held for the first time at the RH Academy, which included Samuel Barlow Primary Academy winning the John Radford Trophy for the third time, Blidworth Oakes sealing the Ulyett Landscapes Cup, and Holly Primary netting success in the new Teachers UK Trophy.
“Our competitions again proved really popular with a vast number of teams entering to take on other schools, as for many pupils, it’s the first time they’ve ever tasted competition football.
“Whilst the Academic Year may be over, our work continues with our popular ‘Soccer Summer’ days throughout the holidays with daily delivery of coaching sessions, we are also very excited for the new academic year as we continue with interventions and inter-school clubs and competitions”
