Sammy’s Gang, a group of fundraising colleagues who work closely with Mansfield Town Football in the Community, climbed Ben Nevis last Sunday to raise money for three different charities.
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles, standing 1,345 metres above sea level.
Sammy’s Gang climbed the mountain to raise money for Mansfield Town Football in the Community, The Thomas Cook Children’s Charity and Prostate Cancer UK.
The group, named after Mansfield Town mascot Sammy the Stag, have raised over £5,500 for charity, and set themselves a target of £3,000 for the Ben Nevis walk.
Gary Shaw, Mansfield Town’s Football in the Community manager, who was among the group who took part in the climb last Sunday, said the three-and-a-half hour walk was the most difficult thing he has ever done.
