Mansfield Town Football in the Community are delighted to be participating in this year’s World Book Day pop-up book shop event, giving youngsters from across the region the opportunity to get a FREE children’s book and develop their reading skills.
Held at Mansfield Town Football in the Community [Located in the West Stand Lower at the One Call Stadium] primary school pupils will be able to exchange vouchers handed out in schools for books, or pick up a copy of their favourite reads for as little as £1 as Football in the Community join forces with the National Literacy Trust and WH Smith’s for this year’s event.
The book shop will be open at the Football in the Community offices on Saturday 14th March as Mansfield Town welcome Crewe Alexandra in Sky Bet League Two, with any young Crewe fans also welcome to come along and collect a book, following the postponement of Stags Vs Swindon last month.
Gary Shaw, Community Manager, said “Throughout the academic year we work extremely hard with schools on reading interventions within our Premier League Primary Stars delivery and are delighted to be hosting the pop-up book shop in partnership with the Literacy Trust and WH Smith once again
“The youngsters we see really love picking up a book and sitting down to read and for many of them this will be their first opportunity to purchase a book to keep and read at leisure rather than borrow from a school or library, which is a massive thing for their social development”
The book shop will be open from 12.30pm on Saturday [14th March] with a wide selection of books, some published especially for World Book Day, to choose from – provided by the National Literacy Trust and WH Smiths. World Book Day tokens are handed out directly through Primary Schools and can be exchanged for books throughout the afternoon.
