Mansfield Town Football in the Community have this morning made the draw for the first qualification tournament for this year’s EFL under 11s Kids Cup.
We will stage four qualification tournaments for the areas schools, with the winner from each qualification stage taking on each other in our area grand final on Thursday 13th December at the RH Academy, the winner of which will progress to the regional finals.
The EFL Under 11s kids cup is one of the most popular tournaments for primary schools across the country with the national grand final taking place at Wembley Stadium prior to the Sky Bet League Two play-off final, an experience enjoyed by Samuel Barlow back in 2016.
Gary Shaw, Community Manager, said “It takes a matter of seconds for schools to respond to our invitation to take part in the EFL Under 11s Kids Cup, as soon as they see the name of the competition they jump on board.
“Everyone associated with football dreams if playing at Wembley Stadium, and that’s exactly what can happen with this competition.
“When Samuel Barlow reached Wembley a couple of years ago it was a very proud moment – even though some of the kids have since moved on from that school, I still see some of them around at other events and they remember it fondly, as do the school who have all the photos on display.”
Nine teams have entered the first qualifying stage and have been split into two groups, for this tournament teams in group one will each other twice, whilst group two will play each other once – the two group winners will then meet in a final to decide who progresses.
Community Coach Alex Carwright and Assistant Community Manager Jordan Ferrer made the draw earlier today at the One Call Stadium, with the results as follows. For this tournament, each team will play in games of ten minutes.
