Sutton-In-Ashfield’s Croft Primary School are on the hunt for Wembley glory, after winning Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s Club Final of this season’s EFL Utilita Kids Cup.
The competition for year five and six students offers pupils the opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium prior to the Sky Bet League Two play-off final should they make it through the club and region competitions.
Last season’s representing School Bleasby Primary were extremely unlucky to not grace the Wembley turf, losing in the final game to Oldham, this year’s winning School Croft will be hoping to go one better – once again representing the Stags after progressing to the regional final in 2017/18.
Community Manager Gary Shaw “Many congratulations to Croft Primary on winning our club final, going unbeaten in the final itself – the pupils who represented the school last time out have moved on to secondary school but the memories are long lasting and judging by the way the children performed, it’s certainly something they wanted to replicate once more.
“The competition is as much about social development as it is playing, youngsters get to play in a team and make new friends and gain more experiences – that’s what makes this competition so well respected and well attended”
Mansfield Town Football in the Community would like to thank all competing schools for their efforts this season, and wish Croft the best of luck in the next round, taking place at Port Vale in March.
