Mansfield Town Football in the Community have found the school who will represent them in the newly named EFL Utilita Energy Girls Cup for the 2019-20 season, with last season’s club champion Joseph Whitaker successfully defending their title. Consisting of the same side who competed at last year’s competition, the now year eight aged girls, showed no mercy in seeing off competition from five other teams – securing the right to represent the Stags for a second successive season with four victories from five matches. The EFL and Utilita have today announced a new four-year deal that will see the energy supplier become the Official Title Sponsor of the Kids and Girls Cup competitions. The new partnership, which will be in place until at least the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, will see the community competitions renamed as the ‘Utilita Kids Cup’ and ‘Utilita Girls Cup’ respectively. Over 22,000 schoolchildren take part in the competitions each year, with the aim of representing their local EFL Club, as they battle for the opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium. Stags Bow out of the EFL U13 Girls Cup despite valiant effort

Mansfield Town’s journey in this seasons EFL Under 13s Girls Cup is over, however it’s a journey which year seven and eight students from Joseph Whitaker School can be proud of, finishing as Area Final runners up. The Rainworth based school won the opportunity to represent the Stags when they won our local competition back in October and on Friday, made the journey to Nottingham Forest’s Community Trust complex – to face the winners from nine other Community Trusts’ competitions. Split into two groups, the Stags were drawn against representatives from Rotherham United, Lincoln City, Sheffield Wednesday and hosts Nottingham Forest – playing each side once with the top two teams progressing to the semi-final stages. Joseph Whitaker Progress to EFL Girls Cup Regional Finals

Year seven and eight girls from Rainworth’s Joseph Whitaker School have progressed to the regional finals of the EFL Girls Cup, following Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s tournament for local schools at the One Call Stadium yesterday. Nine teams from six of the areas schools competed in the competition on a sunny autumn afternoon, where Joseph Whitaker A triumphed following a tense penalty shootout against Ashfield B. The teams were split into two groups playing each other once in matches of eight minutes each, Joseph Whitaker A were clear winners of Group A with two wins and a draw, whilst in Group B goal difference separated winners Ashfield B from second placed reigning champions Sutton Community Academy and Ashfield A. The EFL Girls Cup Area Finals Ourselves at Mansfield Town Football in the Community was honored to be chosen and given the opportunity to stage this years competition. We decided to host at Sutton Lawn Pleasure Ground in order to facilitate the 9 clubs in attendance. Each professional club from the Sky Bet Championship to Sky Bet League 2 has to run a local based competition for local secondary schools. Each local competition winner enters an Area Finals with the winners progressing to the Regional Finals and hopefully the National Final at Wembley ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy final. The EFL Girls Cup 2017 – Local Finals

The EFL Girls Cup This year's competition saw 9 teams from 6 schools enter the EFL Girls Cup. Schools included Ashfield, Shirebrook Academy, Meden, Kirkby College, Joseph Whitaker and Sutton Academy. The group format saw every school play each other with the top school earning the right to represent Mansfield Town FC in the Area Finals which we will be hosting in January 2018. All the schools started brightly especially Sutton Academy, Shirebrook and Kirkby College. The standard of the night was impressive especially with a couple of the girls standing out on the Shirebrook side. Sutton Academy emerged victorious from the night with a 100% record and zero goals conceded. The girls will now look forward to January where they will test their skills...

The Kinder +Sport EFL Girls Cup Area Finals Ashfield School was the latest representative school to take part in the Area Finals at Nottingham. Ashfield School earned the right to compete in the Area Finals by beating Joseph Whitaker School in our local final. They was grouped together with other schools representing Notts County, Derby County , Sheffield United and Chesterfield. 1st Group Game v Sheffield United A nervous start from Mansfield Town as they struggled against a Sheffield United side. The Kinder+Sport EFL Girls Cup 2016/17 We have recently organised our annual local competition for local secondary schools to attend and earn the right to represent Mansfield Town FC in the area finals at Nottingham in January 2017. The tournament also has pathways to the regional finals at Sheffield and the grand final which will be played at Wembley in 2017. Brunts Academy, Joseph Whitaker and Ashfield School was in attendancefor the local group stage qualifiers. Each school played each other twice with the top two progressing to the group final. Ashfield School beat Joseph Whitaker 2-0 and will represent Mansfield Town FC. We wish them all the best as they fly the flag in January 2017
