‘Inspirational’ Student backs the Stags with DT Project

An inspirational pupil from Rainworth’s Joseph Whitaker School whose dreams of donning the Amber & Blue are hampered by Spina Bifida, has showed great determination and creativity to show his support to the club – with a special ‘Super Stags’ Lego feature as part of his design technology project. Year Seven student Harvey Morton is Stags mad and attends all home matches as a season ticket holder, and despite his mobility issues preventing him from following his dreams to become a future Stags player – his positive attitude and creativity is “inspiring others to overcome their own challenges” according to Inclusive Sport Coordinator at the School, Anthony O’Donnell. Senior Stags’ on the Medal Table in National Tournament

Mansfield Town’s Senior Walking Footballers have created memories to treasure, after leaving a national Walking Football Tournament, held at St George’s Park, with a medal following their participation in the ‘One Tournament’ The National Tournament is held yearly and is a full day of football for all ages, with the Stags’ Walking Football squad entering in the Super 5s Series – Over 50s Walking Football tournament. Representing Mansfield Town Football in the Community were members from our popular Walking Football sessions who were split into two teams – Mansfield Town Yellow, and Mansfield Town Blue – both in the Over 50s section, across two groups. Active Minds Chat group enjoy outdoor sport session

Our ‘Active Minds: Chat’ group enjoyed a morning in the sunshine last Friday, as they participated in a tailored sports session, designed to focus on team work, communication, coordination and movement. The ‘Active Minds: Chat’ project is a weekly two-hour session predominantly for people living with dementia, or those struggling with issues such as loneliness and social isolation. Activities usually take place indoors with sessions ranging from singing therapies and chair-fitness, to board game and quizzes. Football in the Community designs the activity to be as inclusive as possible and aim to make every participant leave with a smile, using the medium of football and sport, to spark conversation and friendship. Youngsters Enjoy Trophy Presentation Assembly

Youngsters from Forest Town’s Holly Primary School have today received their winner’s medal and trophy in a presentation in front of the entire school, after winning the brand new Teachers UK Trophy. The year four pupils ran out eventual winners of the competition at the RH Academy last month after making it through the qualifying stages, where last season’s holders King Edward School bowed out, paving the way for a new champion. Teachers UK Trophy crowns new Champion

The annual Teachers UK Trophy has a brand new champion, after Forest Town’s Holly Primary School saw off their competitors to claim the silverware at the RH Academy last week. Competing against three other schools following two qualifying tournaments, Holly Primary take the crown from King Edward Primary, who bowed out at the qualifying stage, finishing two points clear of their rivals following an extremely competitive afternoon’s football. Following a tense afternoon’s football which saw each time play each other twice, the outcome went down to the afternoons final match with Holly beating Forest View 2-0, meaning second-placed Croft, needed to beat Abbey Primary by two clear goals – however Abbey stood firm to claim at 0-0 draw, and subsequently see Holly named champions. Sutton-In-Ashfield school enjoy Football in the Community Education day

Year six pupils from Sutton-In-Ashfield’s Abbey Hill Primary enjoyed a day out of the classroom last week, with a special day of education here at Football in the Community. Presented as part of our Premier League Primary Stars intervention, the Abbey Hill students enjoyed a full day of activities, including classroom based and sports sessions. The pupils began the day with an interactive classroom session, led by Football in the Community’s Education Officer Elizabeth Regan, before heading around the One Call Stadium on a ground tour to find out more about the history of Mansfield Town FC and the surrounding area. We are delighted to continue to provide mascot packages for the 2019/20 campaign, starting in pre-season as John Dempster takes charge of Mansfield Town Football Club for the first time. The Stags will face Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday 17th July, followed by Nottingham Forest on Tuesday 23rd July – and we are delighted to be offering mascot packages, giving youngsters the opportunity to be the first to meet the class of 2019/20. Priced at £125 per mascot, mascots will receive match tickets (1 Adult, 1 Child) & a replica shirt. Seniors bow out of WFA Cup despite spirited display

Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s Walking Football Team can no longer dream of lifting silverware in the Walking Football Association cup, after being knocked out in the national first round at the hands of Nottingham based Unity Reds. The seniors Stags put in a spirited performance and twice led in the first half and were still in the game at the half-time whistle, holding their opponents at 2-2. However despite having numerous chances during the first half, the second half was a far tougher affair as tiredness took its toll with the Stags conceding a further four goals to exit the tournament at the first hurdle, losing 6-2. Usher nets Top Goal Scorer Award

The season may be over for Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s Futsal side, following a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe in the Futsal National Quarter Final, however the Stags can claim a successful season, as 19 Year Old Thomas Usher finished the campaign as leading goal scorer in the Midlands Futsal League. Usher scoops the award after netting 24 goals over the course of the season, finishing some distance ahead of his competitors and coming within just five goals of taking Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s all time goal scoring record since joining the Futsal program.
