Reining Club Champions Defend Their Crown

Mansfield Town Football in the Community have found the school who will represent them in the newly named EFL Utilita Energy Girls Cup for the 2019-20 season, with last season’s club champion Joseph Whitaker successfully defending their title. Consisting of the same side who competed at last year’s competition, the now year eight aged girls, showed no mercy in seeing off competition from five other teams – securing the right to represent the Stags for a second successive season with four victories from five matches. The general landscape around Mansfield may be miserable today with a cold torrential rain sweeping across the area, but that didn’t stop Mansfield Town Football in the Community from injecting some warmth and smiles into the areas residents today, providing indoor activities to participants at the Jigsaw Support Group. Jigsaw Support Group support those living with mental health illness’, dementia and tackling social isolation and asked Football in the Community to extend their ‘Active Minds’ program to visit their venue. Youngsters participate in Educational Workshops on Healthy Eating & First Aid

Mansfield Town Football in the Community yesterday put away the footballs and encouraged youngsters to switch off the consoles, to participate in workshops focussing on Healthy Eating, and First Aid/ Emergency CPR. Twenty-three young people aged 5 to 15 took part in two workshops, delivered by Sainsbury’s [Mansfield] and AW Safety Management LTD respectively. The morning workshop, delivered by the Mansfield branch of Sainsbury’s helped to celebrate the supermarkets 150 Years of Community work and saw fresh fruit and veg laid on in a Halloween buffet style for youngsters to enjoy, with many youngsters sampling different fruit and vegetables for the very first time. Seventy Youngsters have a frightening time at SSA Party

Mansfield Town Football in the Community were delighted to welcome 70 youngsters to Jango’s Indoor Play centre last night, to enjoy the annual SSA Halloween Party. Funded by the Stags Supporters Association, the party is one of THREE per season which junior members are entitled to attend for FREE, with celebrations also taking place at Christmas and Easter. As part of the ongoing relationship between the official supporters group and Football in the Community, youngsters attended the fantastic Jango’s Indoor Play Centre to enjoy two hours of free play at the popular venue. Junior members of the Stags Supporters Association (SSA) can tonight enjoy a FREE night of fun at Jango’s Indoor Play Centre – as Mansfield Town Football in the Community celebrate Halloween! The party, taking place from 5.30-7.30pm, is just one of THREE FREE parties which Junior SSA Members are entitled to attend, with other taking place at Christmas (Jango’s) and Easter (iJump Trampoline Park) – and youngsters who are not already booked onto the party, are invited to attend this evening’s spook-tacular event! Active Minds having a positive impact on Mental Health | World Mental Health Day

Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s ‘Active Minds: Chat’ session has had a massive impact on the Mental wellbeing of its participants, as it approaches its first birthday. Working regularly with around twenty participants per week, ‘Active Minds’ gives those facing social isolation, suffering from mental health issues or living with Dementia a safe haven to make new friends and enjoy a range of positive activities. Marking World Mental Health Day today [Thursday 10th October], participants and their loved ones have been speaking about the impact ‘Active Minds’ has on their Mental Health. Anxiety and Depression in young people has risen by 48% since 2004, but talking and listening can build mental wellbeing – Mansfield Town Football in the Community are fully supporting that message, in the build up to World Mental Health day. Research from mentalhealth.org.uk has shown that 10% of children and young people (aged 5-16 years) have a clinically diagnosable mental problem, yet 70% of children and adolescents who experience mental health problems have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age – this is something Football in the Community is aiming to help change, by supporting the #HelloYellow and ‘Get Britain Taking’ campaigns during activities throughout the week. Mansfield Town Football in the Community are seeking to continue their excellent record with Post 16 Education, and are now recruiting for students for the 2020/21 Academic Year. The ‘Footsteps Education Program’ helps to put students on the right track to a career, offering a BTEC Level Three Diploma/ Extended diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching and Development) which over the past three academic years, has helped all students on the program, get into full time or part time work, higher education or apprenticeships. Across the two-year program, students will study a maximum of 19 units (extended diploma, 13 diploma) to get them equipped for career pathways into coaching, teaching, physiotherapy, sports science and much more. October Activities announced, as Football in the Community launch GIRLS ONLY day!

Mansfield Town Football in the Community are delighted to confirm its list of activities for the two-week October Half Term holiday, which includes a BRAND NEW Girls Only day, plus the return of ‘Stags’ Little Kickers. And more. In Total, Football in the Community will be running five separate activities, spread across two weeks, for youngsters of all abilities to enjoy as FITC continues to celebrate thirty years of community engagement. Football in the Community, based at the One Call Stadium, will be open every day for boys and girls aged 5 to 15 to enjoy our ‘October Overload’ activity from 8.30am to 4pm. Double funding boost for Football in the Community

Mansfield Town Football in the Community were delighted to receive a double funding boost last week, thanks to the efforts of local fundraisers and the local branch of the Dementia Action Alliance. Firstly, Football in the Community’s head of CCO Mark Hemingray was delighted to receive a phone call from local husband and wife team Karen and Andy Widdowson, who have taken part in several fundraising adventures for Football in the Community over the past few years. The duo informed us that they had enjoyed the sights of London, walking over the capitals iconic o2 Arena, donating £120 worth of donations raised through social media, friends and family, to Football in the Community.
