Football in the Community deliver tickets, following completion of Premier League Primary Stars Program

Students from Wainwright Primary Academy and John T Rice Primary School have today been given match tickets to Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two match with Port Vale. The year one and two pupils recently completed their six week Premier League Primary Stars program, delivered by Football in the Community coaches, and have now received tickets to Saturday’s clash as a reward for successfully completing the program. A member of Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s Dementia Group has successfully won tickets to see England take on the USA at Wembley tomorrow, thanks to the EFL Trust and Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate. The England manager kindly donated seven pairs of tickets to the EFL Trust following a recent EFL conference, with the trust offering all 72 Football League the opportunity to nominate a member of their community scheme to win a pair of tickets for tomorrow’s encounter. Mansfield Town FITC are delighted to announce that they have been successful in securing a pair of tickets for lifelong football enthusiast, 66 year old Arthur Frost. Competition Winners enjoy Checkatrade Victory

Ten youngsters who were victorious at the recent SSA Halloween Party enjoyed last night’s 3-2 victory over Scunthorpe United, thanks to competition sponsors Checkatrade. The ten youngsters were chosen for the best fancy dress at the supporters club’s recent party at Jango’s Play Centre, by SSA Chairman Dean Foulkes and Community Manager Gary Shaw. Each winner received a junior ticket and a ticket for an accompanying adult to watch last night’s match, in which the Stags won 3-2 to top Group H and progress to the next round, where they face a home tie with either Stoke City U21s, Manchester City U21s, Bury or Macclesfield, who were runners up in their respective groups. NCS Students enjoy team building day at the RH Academy

Students from Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s NCS program, ran in association with the EFL trust, have recently enjoyed a day of team building exercises at the new RH Academy. The team building day kick started phase two of the program, following the students recent residential trip, with team building sessions led by Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jenny Wallwork. Jacksdale Primary School net over £2000 in Football in the Community penalty shootout

Jacksdale Primary School have completed their part in Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s Penalty Shootout competition, raising a grand total of £2,434.90 with 50% coming to Football in the Community, and the rest going to the school. It was the first time the Primary School had taken part in the scheme which has been running annually since the mid 1990s, seeing tens of thousands of youngsters take part to raise funds for their school and Football in the Community. NCS Students go rock climbing at Windgather Rocks

This week our Futsal Students are taking part in the EFL Trusts’ NCS Scheme for Autumn 2018, with a residential stay at Crowden Outdoor Education Centre. Our students have been enrolled onto the program, which offers 15-17 year olds a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only better themselves, but to make a real difference in their local community. This week has seen our students start the first part of the program, where participants stay away from home and enjoy instructor-led activities such as rock climbing and archery. Split into teams, they will then learn life skills including budgeting, first aid and cooking. R.I.P Walter Edwards

Mansfield Town Football in the Community were saddened to hear of the passing of the clubs oldest living player Walter Edwards, earlier today. Mr Edwards, aged 94, was born and bred in Mansfield Woodhouse and signed for the club as an amateur in August 1947, turning pro three months later, going on to score five goals in twenty-five matches for the Stags before joining Leeds United. The 94 year old who had been living with Dementia, served in the Army and also had spells with Leeds United, Leicester City and Rochdale before finishing his playing career Boston United. Mr Edwards had a huge affection for the Stags and recently returned to the club as a regular attendee of Football in the Community’s weekly Dementia Group,…

SSA Halloween Party a Spooky Success

Fifty Junior SSA Members enjoyed a spooky night at Jango’s indoor play centre last night, celebrating Halloween with two hours of free play and fun. One of three annual parties which the SSA put on FREE for Junior members in association with Football in the Community, youngsters donned their best fancy dress costumes for the evening – with the top ten chosen to win tickets for the Stags’ forthcoming Checkatrade Trophy match with Scunthorpe United. The winners received one adult and one junior ticket for the match, which could see the Stags finish as group winners, should they draw or beat opponents Scunthorpe United. Schools Complete Primary Stars Program

Mansfield Town Football in the Community are sending congratulations to three of our local schools, after completing the Premier League Primary Stars program. Pupils from John T Rice Primary (Forest Town), Wainwright Academy (Mansfield) and Heathlands Primary School (Rainworth) recently completed their respective programs, where Football in the Community coaches delivered football based PE Sessions and assisted with classroom based activities. The main aim of the Premier League Primary Stars project is to enhance the provision of PE and improve pupil educational attainment in Maths and English across the areas primary schools. This project will develop teacher knowledge, skills and confidence in the delivery of the school’s PE, and raise the children’s understanding, interest and confidence in Maths and English. Mansfield Town duo Will Atkinson and Hayden White delighted youngsters at Rainworth’s Heathlands School yesterday, as they delivered tickets to tomorrows (Saturday 27th October) clash with MK Dons. The duo joined Football in the Community in also presenting the youngsters with certificates following the completion of their Premier League Primary Stars Program, which Football in the Community coaches have been delivering, both in and out of the classroom. Over thirty youngsters received certificates of achievement and a free match day ticket to watch David Flitcrofts men in action against MK Dons tomorrow, with many youngsters getting the opportunity to watch the Stags for the first time.
