Croft Primary on the hunt for Wembley Glory

Sutton-In-Ashfield’s Croft Primary School are on the hunt for Wembley glory, after winning Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s Club Final of this season’s EFL Utilita Kids Cup. The competition for year five and six students offers pupils the opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium prior to the Sky Bet League Two play-off final should they make it through the club and region competitions. Last season’s representing School Bleasby Primary were extremely unlucky to not grace the Wembley turf, losing in the final game to Oldham, this year’s winning School Croft will be hoping to go one better – once again representing the Stags after progressing to the regional final in 2017/18. From the 2020/21 Academic Year, Mansfield Town Football in the Community are restructuring the Education Pathway for post 16 students – offering one of the countries newest sporting qualifications and enrolling on a new games programme. We are now seeking students to join our Education Pathway in September and play their way to a better future. The BTEC Level Three Diploma/ Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development will encourage students to fulfil their potential and discover more about the possibilities of a prolonged career in Sport, with a coursework based approach to learning. Cup dreams over for Joseph Whitaker students despite gritty fight | EFL Utilita Girls Cup

Students from Joseph Whitaker School had their dreams of playing at Wembley Stadium broken today [10th January] as representing Mansfield Town Football in the Community, the year eight girls were knocked out of the EFL Utilita Energy Girls Cup. Joseph Whitaker were representing the Stags for the second successive year after winning our club final in November last year, but couldn’t quite match their performance from the previous season – being knocked out at the group stages of the Area three final. Playing at Doncaster’s excellent Keepmoat Stadium, The Rainworth based students endured a tough start to the day, as despite scoring seconds into the match, fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Rotherham in the opening game. “Phenomenal Transformation” in year six maths student, thank to PL Primary Stars

Students across the UK will face the toughest test of their young lives so far later this year, when they face their SATS exams as Primary School life reaches its conclusion, one student from Wainwright Primary Academy has been given a boost in confidence thanks to Football in the Community’s Premier League Primary Stars maths interventions. Year six pupil Tegan-Mai Quibell Cotman has been given a helping hand thanks to more dedicated learning time, as Football in the Community provided classroom support over the last six weeks – running simultaneously with PE provision for year six pupils. Stags Duo bring festive gifts to young supporters

Mansfield Town wingers CJ Hamilton and Otis Khan brought some festive cheer to youngsters from across the district last night, attending the annual SSA Christmas Party. Junior SSA Members are in for an early Christmas treat, as Santa comes to town on Wednesday 18th December, taking time out of his busy schedule to attend the annual SSA Christmas Party. Two more progress to chase Wembley dream

Two more local Schools are one step closer to playing at Wembley Stadium, after making it through to Mansfield Town Football in the Community’s club final, of this seasons EFL Utilita Kids Cup. The tournament, open to ages 11 and under, kicked off last month with Berry Hill and Croft Primary School securing their place in the Club Final to be held at the RH Academy this week – they’ll be joined by pupils from Abbey Primary and Holly Primary School, after the two saw off the competition at our second qualifying event last week. Mansfield Town Football in the Community are delighted to be supporting the national Christmas Jumper Day on Friday (13th December), by raising money for save the children with a bumper day of Activities. All Football in the Community staff will be donning their Christmas Jumpers and donating to the cause and are asking the public for a little festive good-will in return – by either donating via text message, or coming along to join our ‘Active Minds Christmas Party’ taking place 10am to 12noon at the One Call Stadium on Friday. ‘Active Minds’ will be open to anyone wishing to come along and help us fundraise and will include fun interactive games and quizzes for all to enjoy, plus a festive singalong! Mansfield Town Football in the Community are delighted to report that the ‘Active Minds’ Project is creating a safe and secure environment for those struggling with social isolation, living with mental illness or living with Dementia. As Football in the Community celebrates thirty years of Community engagement, they are delighted to be taking in part in the EFL’s Day of Disability, celebrating the excellent results of the weekly ‘Active Minds’ project. Started in October 2018, the project works regularly with around twenty participants per week, and gives those facing social isolation, suffering from mental health issues or living with Dementia a safe haven to make new friends and enjoy a range of positive activities, including indoor and outdoor sport.
